MISSION
Go Make A Difference International Volunteer Organization (Go M.A.D.)
is a non-profit organization founded and maintained by teachers on the
Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme and alumni. Go M.A.D. also
relies on the support of the Japanese community and Go Madders
throughout the world. We offer volunteers a safe, enjoyable work
environment in orphanages, schools, and community projects throughout
the developing world.
Go M.A.D. encourages cross cultural understanding and global peace
initiatives by linking volunteering with traveling. We not only help
support projects financially through our networks, but also foster
personal connections between individuals and organizations in
different countries. Volunteers are empowered by their experiences
abroad and return home even more inspired to make a difference in the
lives of others.
Mission Statement
As an international volunteer organization, our mission is to:
- Be a leading volunteer organization promoting small-scale international volunteer projects in the impoverished regions of the world.
- Support projects by fundraising, organizing volunteer trips, and sponsoring children.
- Offer volunteers a holistic overseas work experience, one which embraces different ways of life, cultural differences, food, languages, and new skills.
- Educate about issues surrounding poverty, women and children, AIDS/HIV, health care, the environment, politics, access to clean water and nutritious food, security, refugees, and violent conflict.
- Inspire leadership.
Go M.A.D. is founded on three main principles:
- Support for our community partners strengthens their efforts to achieve social justice, community-controlled economies, environmental awareness, and an improved standard of living.
- Volunteer tourism promotes sustainability in host communities and has positive effects on hosts and volunteers alike.
- Education is critical to create global awareness, to foster relationships between communities and individuals of different countries, and to build fair and sustainable local economies.
The Go M.A.D. site is open and free to everybody. We are linked with projects all over the world in which you can volunteer with at anytime.
Go M.A.D. encourages you to ‘think globally and act locally" by participating in Go MAD’s annual ‘Christmas Cards That Give’ campaign, Handicraft sales, Pen Pal Exchange, Child Sponsorship, and our Go!En Campaign. For teachers, our website gives you ideas on how to bring the world into your classroom.
