FUNDRAISING GUIDE
View the
full version of the GO M.A.D. Fundraising Guide (.doc format).
Tips for the annual "Christmas Cards
that Give" Campaign.
Here are some easy tips for making next year’s campaign bigger and
better than ever!!
- Ask JET and Japanese friends to buy them (they are cheaper and
better than what can be bought in Japan) Make use of your
prefectural listserves, special interest group listserves, and other
networks to promote the campaign.
- Ask friends if they want to sell them also.
- Contact your town or city hall (or ask your CIR) for assistance
- many have avenues to help with internationalization and fund
raising.
- Ask students (this should be done only with your school’ prior
approval) to either buy or sell cards. You could get all your
students to buy one card each (only 100yen) and write an English
letter to you or to the children at the orphanage.
- Ask teachers if they are interested in starting a tradition in
your school by sending Christmas cards. You will be surprised at how
well they are received!
- Set up displays of pictures and Go M.A.D. info wherever
possible, ie. JET Conferences, your workplace, on the internet,
festivals, or any cultural venues.
- Ask the local media – newspaper reporters or radio station djs –
to promote Go M.A.D.
- Ask local shop owners to set up a display of cards and pictures.
- Set up your own webpage for the cards and link it to your local
AJET or prefectural site.
- Start early, stay genki, and just think how you are making a
difference in the lives of so many great kids!
We WELCOME more Fundraising tips from you!
Fundraising is a top priority at Go M.A.D., for obvious reasons. If
you have a great fundraising story to tell, please share it. If you
and your friends staged a successful event at home or here in Japan,
please let us know all the details. We would like to compile event
ideas to create a FUNDRAISING site specifically suited for JETs. All
it takes is a little motivation and organization to raise funds for a
worthy cause. Tell Jennifer Hobbs how creative you are at gomadcardsales@gmail.com.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
